US Attacks Iraqi Popular Forces: PMF Commander

Alwaght- Even a cursory glance at the Iraq developments after rise of ISIS terrorist group in the country leads to the notion that the voluntary forces, organized under the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), have played an outstanding role in both fighting ISIS terrorist and curbing the Kurdish secessionism in north of the country. It was, in fact, the outcome of the PMF, also known Hashd al-Shaabi locally, fighting that the ISIS-held areas, which accounted for vast swaths of the country, returned to the central government’s rule. The same role and assistance has been noticeable in the past few weeks in the Kurdistan region, where the popular forces' help effectively enabled the army to retake control of Kirkuk among other "disputed regions", distanced from Iraq risks of split, and restored state cohesion.

Kurdish Militias Helped 100s ISIS Terrorists Flee Hawijah before Liberation by Iraqi Forces

Alwaght- Kurdish militias, Peshmerga, have helped ISIS terrorists and their families escape the town of Hawijah prior to its liberation by the Iraqi military earlier this month, an Iraqi commander told.

Mahdi Taki, a commander with the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU), also known by its Arabic name Hashd al-Shaabi, told the Middle East Eye (MEE) news portal on Monday that ISIS terrorists had bribed the Kurdish forces to secure their safe passage.

ISIS elements “have escaped Hawijah via Peshmerga positions and [before the Hawijah battle began] the Peshmerga received 160 ISIS leaders,” he said.

“We are getting this information directly from our Peshmerga contacts. There are some bad Peshmerga who love money more than patriotism, and they are taking bribes from ISIS,” he added.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the liberation of Hawijah on October 5 following a two-week military campaign that involved the army, police, special forces units and the PMF. The Peshmerga did not participate in that operation.

Daesh Almost Annihilated after Losing Last Major Cities in Iraq, Syria

Local Editor

Daesh [the Arabic acronym for terrorist ‘ISIS/ISIL' group] almost reached the point of annihilation in Iraq and Syria after its last two substantial urban strongholds in both countries were captured by government and allied forces during operations which reduced the presence of the terror group to pockets of barren desert.
